G.H. Bass Weejun
Established in Wilton, Maine in 1876, G.H. Bass & Co is an originator of the timeless, artisan penny loafer. It all started by leather tanner George Henry Bass - a man on a simple mission to “create the best possible shoe for the purpose it is intended”, a core value that the brand still works towards to this very day. During World War I, G.H. Bass & Co moccasins became the official aviation boot for the Armed Forces’ pilots, due to their suitability for cold conditions. By the 1930’s the brand had solidified its place as a provider of timelessly fashionable footwear and the “Bass Weejun”, now the signature style, was born. The name originates from the Norwegian slipper-type moccasin used for “loafing in the field”. G.H Bass & Co shoes have gained many notable fans over the years including Charles A. Lindbergh, Admiral Richard E. Byrd, John F. Kennedy and Michael Jackson. And the reason is simple... They are a brand that works hard to stay true to the original promise of quality, durability and style.
